Arts in Motion

"PAINTING IS AN INSPIRATION TO PATIENCE AND HUMILITY"

Welcome to the Arts In Motion website. Let me introduce myself. I’m John Careless, and I am an artist based in the West Midlands of the UK.

I have been drawn to art ever since I was a young boy, and from an early age, my father would encourage me to draw.

Ever since that time I’ve had an interest in all forms of art, and have tried my hand at most genres, including, wood burning, glass engraving, and even cartoon sketching.

In 1985 while serving in the Army, I began drawing cartoons for a UK based American football magazine. Later that year, I was commissioned to illustrate a monthly cartoon, “The Survivalist”, for a magazine called Combat and Survival.

Two years later in 1987, along with my friend Nick Mawdsley, we produced a cartoon book, “A Joke Too Far”, which was printed and published by Pegasus Press.

Since then, I have tried out various mediums to produce my artworks, and have now settled on portraiture as my preferred topic.

All of my artworks are completed using either, Acrylic, Oils, Airbrush, or a mixture of the three. And are sealed in either Matt, Satin or High Gloss varnish, depending on the customers requirements.

My style of painting has been described as Powerful, Thought-Provoking, with a Twist.

I hope you enjoy my work and look forward to hearing from you on the comments page.
